Do you think he was cynical and not as mindless as the fundamentalists you have him shaking his head at? Or, did he self-servingly believe his own creation? This is a guy who took a nine-year old girl, Aisha, as his wife, after all; not exactly an exemplar of virtue or sanity, necessarily, mmm?
Muhammed was the world’s greatest con man, I contend; he only succeeded, though, because the Arabs were / are the world’s most gullible people. They actually bought into his syncretic blend of Judaism, Nestorian Christianity and pagan Arabian religion. Fools, the lot of them. Unfortunately, highly fanatical fools who were willing to kill those who wouldn’t convert, and thus spread their crazy new faith by the sword. Fundamentalist Muslims are simply true Islamic believers; whereas moderate, sane Muslims are in fact apostates of the faith they claim to profess. That’s all there is to it, really.
I really don’t give a shit about what Muhammad or Siddartha Gautama, or Jesus Christ or Guru Nanak or L. Ron Hubbard or Richard Dawkins had to say or how they lived their lives. With those guys far removed in the past, I doubt we can even say what they said, what with all the textual redaction and oral lore that becomes history nor can we look at them decontextualized from their historical context.
In any case dead guys and their ideas aren’t what kill people. It’s living people who take things far too seriously who do.
I drew an innocuous somewhat dry Muhammad for two reasons that can be summarized by “Ceci n’est pas une pipe”
